I gave a presentation in November last year at Texas State University San Marcos on the Cassilhaus model of engaging community. As part of developing that presentation I compiled various statistics about our residency program, our exhibition program, and our art collection and it was a fascinating and illuminating exercise and will help us shape what we do going forward. Here is the breakdown of basic demographic statistics about our residency program:
I find it fascinating that we have had, through no overt planning, almost a perfect bell curve of ages of our residents. In our invitations for 2017 and 2018 we have increased both our geographic and racial diversity. It is clear that our first love is photography but we continue to invite artists who work in many media including non visual arts.
And what we learned about our exhibition program:
I was surprised to find such a strong skew toward female artists in our exhibition program.
And a few stats on our collection:
That's all for now. All of our programs are continually evolving with the prime driving force being keeping it new and exciting and different from what we have done before.
