Hello again. Every year our good friends at Durham Central Park have a series of fund raising dinners called Meals from the Market which are the primary source of funding for expanding this amazing downtown oasis. We had our event, a cocktail party for 65, this past Sunday and it was a smashing success. Our friends Grace, Mary Jane, Morgan, and Renee were our co-hosts. We dubbed it South by Northwest and had a compare and contrast of edible delights from North Carolina and the Pacific Northwest. We raised $3350. Some photos from the festivities:
My sister Ann and her husband David were visiting from Virginia and helped with the prep the night before.
Sherry and Sue were our wildly capable bartenders.
Grace and Renee got creative with the drink menu.
Ellen, Grace, Mary Jane, Renee, and Morgan put together quite a spread. Salmon from Washington State, cougar cheese and Washington state apples, Mary Jane's famous local deviled eggs, NC shrimp, Mebane raised Tilapia, assorted cheeses from the farmers' market, pickled okra and pickled sunchokes topped off with a goat cheese and fig tart.
We also had a blind champagne taste off between Biltmore Estates and Chateau St. Michele (Biltmore won)
Renee was the hostess with the mostest.
You gotta love the Jesse Helms Tour Cancelled T-shirt
We are grateful to everyone who came to support Central Park and made it a very special evening at Cassilhaus. We even had a few farmers in the crowd.
