Tropical Storm Hanna couldn't put a damper on our appreciation party this past Saturday for everyone who has helped make our new home a reality. We had nearly 5 inches of rain overnight and New Hope Creek was higher than I'd seen it in 35 years. It was a raging river 100 ft. wide! What a fabulous sound.
We invited everyone-our builder, our consultants, bankers, all our subs, and others who have helped along the way along with their familes. Thrills from the Grill catered the event and the sun broke through right on schedule at noon and a good time was had by all.
David and his family and John.
Mark and his wife Marie with Ellen
Our banker Larry and his wife Bev.
Our brother in law Don, who hadn't seen the project since it was stakes in the ground, chats with Leon.
My niece Betsy, her daughter Nicola, husband Dan, and my sister Barb get caught up on progress.
Anna, who did a huge amount of the initial design and the full construction drawing set, with her partner Kirstin. They were excited to finally walk through what had been hanging on their walls for many months.
The happy couple bask in the sun on the North deck.
David Swanson and his wife Terri from Swanson and Assoc., our landscape architects, stopped by with a beautiful Coneflower and forwarded some lovely photos of the late afteroon:
In other news Scott and David finished up the murphy bed in the study.
and Darren gets happy about the linen cabinet in the lower bath.
