Yesterday Dwayne and Steve worked on the floor framing of the connecting bridge.
This houses the gallery and it was my first chance to walk through it and get a sense of the scale of everything. Ellen and I love art and collect photography. It was a balancing act of wall space vs. windows throughout the design phase and I think we found a great balance by using alot of high windows and having a gallery space dedicated to hanging art. There are low windows at floor level on the north side of the bridge to allow a view down to the stream below.
Myron and his crew have come up with some ingenious custom scaffolding units to avoid having to set up ground based scaffolding on this incredibly steep slope.
To the extent that this world surrenders its richness and diversity it surrenders its poetry. To the extent that it relinquishes its capacity to surprise, it relinquishes its magic. To the extent that it loses its ability to tolerate ridiculous and even dangerous exceptions, it looses its grace.
