Many people find it strange that years before we started to build we decided that one of our #1 program elements was having an outdoor shower. We stay almost every year at our friend Ann Ehringhaus's B&B Oscar's House on Ocracoke, Island, NC and we fell in love with her outdoor shower. Ann is such an amazing human and we love her so much that we had her marry us too!
This is the happy group at Lake Logan, NC back in 2004. But I digress. So of course you want that shower on the south facing roof terrace and that will certainly be shielded by the tall trees on the lot right? Actually there were a few more trees cleared due to grading than we had hoped and I had the first chance today to jump up on the framing that will be the location for our shower and see just how exposed we will be.
Fortunately our good friend and sculptor Al Frega will come to the rescue with recycled metal art shower shields! Stay tuned. The shower is in the SE corner of the nicely sized terrace over our study and lower bath.
Three seasons of the year we will be able to walk right out of the master bath onto the terrace and out under the sky. Few details on the house involved so much wrangling between architect, builder, plumber, roofer, inpectors etc. than this little 3'x3' piece of heaven but it is going to happen! Come on by when its done.
